BMW is partnering with Colorado-based battery maker Solid Power to develop solid state batteries for EVs. Solid state batteries are expected to have two to three times the energy density of today's lithium-ion batteries.Â

PLANT CLOSING
Automotive insulation supplier Janesville Acoustics is closing its Richmond, Indiana plant by August of next year. The closure will cost around 70 workers their jobs.
PLANT OPENING
SABIC Polymers has started production at a new Polypropylene extrusion facility in Geleen, The Netherlands. The new plant is located next to their existing polymerization plant.Â
Korea's Hanon Systems will build a third plant in Dalian, China to produce compressors.
Sealing and Anti-Vibration systems supplier Henniges Automotive has opened a new 79,500sf plant in Suzhou, China. The plant has created around 70 new jobs and has the potential to expand up to double its current size.
PLANT SHUTDOWN
Maserati will halt production at two of its Italian plants to account for a sales slowdown in China. Their plants in Grugliasco and Mirafiori are closed now through mid-January 2018.
PRODUCTION INCREASE
BMW wants to double its sales of electric and hybrid vehicles to 500,000 by close of 2019.
Turkey's automotive production has increased by 16% so far in 2017 compared to the same period last year.
